Wound Care

Baptist Carroll County’s Wound Management program offers comprehensive services to heal problem wounds. We work with a broad spectrum of patients providing multidisciplinary services, including:

Behavioral Health Care for Seniors

We offer a safe and compassionate environment where seniors can receive quality health care services for severe depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, social workers, activity therapists, registered nurses, psychiatric technicians and nutrition consultants. Primary care physicians are an active part of our medical management team.

Admissions Criteria for Baptist Senior Care

Patients 65 and older who could benefit from short-term inpatient mental health care may be considered for admission, including:

• Severe depression
• Sudden hallucinations, delusions or illusions
• Noncompliance with prescribed mental health regimen
• Potential hazard to the person's health or life
• Sudden inability to cope with stressful situations
• Inability to perform daily activities
• Modification of psychotropic drugs

Diabetic Education Program

This State of Tennessee grant-funded program provides classes and tools for newly diagnosed diabetes patients in Tennessee to help them manage this disease. Customized care plans may include nutritional counseling, exercise programs, physical therapy and glucose monitoring. We also offer group classes that cover topics such as healthy eating, lifestyle modifications, medications, and ways to prevent complications. Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County’s cardiac rehab program is designed to help people who have heart disease, including coronary artery disease and heart attacks, as well as people who have had coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasties, stents, heart valve surgery or repair and heart transplants.

Sleep Disorders Center

Baptist Carroll County's Sleep Disorders Center provides diagnostic services and treatment to patients who show symptoms of a sleep disorder. More than 80 sleep disorders can affect sleep, and some studies indicate that chronic sleep loss also may contribute to diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other age-related chronic disorders.

Physical Therapy

Baptist Carroll County offers a full range of physical, occupational and speech therapy services. Hospital patients receive physical therapy at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County at 631 R.B. Wilson Drive in Huntingdon, Tennessee. Outpatient services are provided at Baptist Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at 485 R.B. Wilson Drive (located on the campus Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County) and at 22700 Highway 22 in McKenzie, Tennessee.

Baptist Carroll County has comprehensive cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services and support. Our certified therapists take a personal and direct approach to help you heal faster. PULMONARY REHABILITATION PROGRAM

We treat patients who are living with chronic lung conditions or diseases, including:

Our lung care team includes physicians, therapists and nurses who work together to create customized treatment options for each patient. We focus on providing education to our patients to help them understand their disease and achieve the highest quality of life.

SHORT-TERM REHABILITATION

Baptist Carroll County’s short-term rehabilitation program, also known as a swing-bed program, helps patients transition from the hospital to home. After surgery or a hospital stay, patients often need help or time to regain their strength. Our swing-bed team includes physicians and nurses, therapists, dietitians, social workers and case managers. They work together to develop a discharge plan for each patient and monitor patients’ progress during treatment.

TREATMENT FOR PARKINSON’S DISEASE AND NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT BIG) therapy is a research-based exercise approach that focuses on bigger, broader movements to treat physical deficits caused by Parkinson’s disease. Treatment is adjusted to a patient’s functional level and adaptable for all stages of Parkinson’s disease.

LSVT BIG is a standardized treatment protocol that consists of:

• 16 sessions, four consecutive days a week for four weeks
• Individual one-hour sessions
• Daily homework practice
• Daily carryover exercises

Our medical clinic also offers LSVT LOUD therapy, a voice treatment program for adults with neurological disorders associated with Parkinson’s disease. This therapy helps patients speak louder and more clearly.
