What is your day like?
No two days are the same, whether it is working in the Advanced Heart Failure Clinic, Transitions of Care, Walnut Grove Plaza Pharmacy or Practice Management. The one constant and rewarding thing is, no matter the setting, you still get to make a positive impact on patients every day.

What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
My favorite thing about Memphis is the sports, food and history of the city.

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
My family was involved in a car accident and I was able to see the power that health care has in helping people's lives. I wanted to give back and make an impact in other’s lives, like those who did for my family. After spending time volunteering in the pharmacy while still in high school, I knew that his was the career path for me.

Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist because of its unique Community Residency Program. When searching for a residency program, I was looking for a place that I could get experience in heart failure management and Transitions of Care in an environment where I would be comfortable growing and learning in. Baptist Memphis' program catered to all of the things I was looking for, and I am so happy that I have the opportunity to learn from the best.

What is your day like?
My day consists of rotating through different pharmacy services throughout the outpatient side of the hospital. These include the Advanced Disease Management Clinic, Transitions of Care, Practice Management, and Walnut Grove Plaza Pharmacy. The most rewarding part of my day is helping patients who need it and making interventions that can better the outcomes of those patients.

What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
I love the culture, music and especially the food. I was born in Memphis and spent most of my summers and holidays here, so this city is near and dear to my heart.

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because of the pharmacists in my hometown who were always so helpful and kind to my family and me. We were always so grateful to have pharmacists that cared and wanted to do everything in their power to help members of the community. I decided at a young age that I wanted to contribute to my community in the same way. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a great profession and I hope to make an impact.

Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?

I chose Baptist because I saw that this is a place where I can grow as a practicing pharmacist. There are many opportunities that this program has to offer. The Baptist community is very welcoming and provides a positive learning environment for residents and students.

What is your day like?
My day consists of rotating through the different areas of community pharmacy services. This can include the outpatient pharmacy at the hospital, Baptist Walnut Grove Plaza Pharmacy, the COPD Transitions of Care service, the Advanced Heart Failure Clinic, and Project Management. Also, in the evenings there is an opportunity to gain even more community pharmacy experience while staffing in the Walnut Grove Plaza Pharmacy. There are also opportunities to gain Ambulatory Care experience while off-campus at Church Health. It can be challenging managing time between these different areas, tasks given to us and the different meetings. However, it does allow me to improve my time management skills. The most rewarding thing about my day is being able to treat patients and work with such a great team.

What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
My favorite thing about Memphis is the food and the culture. There are always so many things to do in the city that you can never be bored.

Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy as a career because I love to help people and I loved math and science as a student. Pharmacy is a health care profession that combines all three of these aspects.

Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist because it gives you the opportunity to learn and improve as a new practicing pharmacist. There are many aspects of community pharmacy that one can learn from. Also, Baptist has core values that involve providing patients with the best possible care.
