About Taylor
Originally from the small town of Terry, Mississippi, Taylor has been able to venture out through her pharmacy studies. Her goal after residency is to obtain a position as an inpatient clinical pharmacist. Her passion outside of pharmacy is photography, and in her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with her family and enjoying the outdoors.
Why did you choose Baptist?
The PGY-1 residency program at Baptist allows me to control my learning experience and tailor it to my career goals. I also appreciate the variety of rotations, supportive preceptors and mentors, and the many learning opportunities available to me.
What is your day like?
Being a mother and a resident pharmacist keeps my days hectic but fulfilling. Going home to my beautiful family everyday makes every day worth it.
What is your favorite thing about Southaven?
I love the community. Coming from Dallas to the Memphis/Southaven area has been pleasantly enjoyable.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because I not only wish to serve my patients, but pharmacy career offers great opportunities to participate in scientific research and innovation.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
I would recommend Baptist to others because of the people that I have met during my time here. Baptist is an organization that cares about and supports its employees while also challenging them to grow.

About Mallory
Born and raised in Madison, Mississippi, Mallory’s interests focus on oncology and infectious diseases, and she plans on pursuing a PGY-2 in one of those areas. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets, and spending her weekends relaxing and playing golf, trying new restaurants, attending sporting events, and streaming her favorite shows.
Why did you choose Baptist?
Although Baptist Desoto’s PGY-1 residency program originally appealed to me because it offered a variety of rotations and access to exceptional preceptors and mentors, the pharmacy staff’s sincerity during our interactions was unmatched, and I wanted to be a part of a team that possessed this kindness.
What is your day like?
My day looks different depending on what rotation I am on, but I generally spend it providing patient care, whether by reviewing charts, interacting with patients, collaborating with care team members, verifying orders, and other tasks. I will usually have meetings throughout the week and different project deadlines that I keep up with too. Although my days sometimes challenge me, I feel that my days are most rewarding when I feel like I made a good recommendation or project presentation, or when I feel like something I have been struggling with finally clicks.
What is your favorite thing about Southaven?
I love how close I am to so many good restaurants and shops.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I have always wanted to work in health care, and after researching different career paths, I found that a career as a pharmacist most closely aligned with the desires and expectations I pictured when I thought about the future.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
The pharmacists you surround yourself with daily have nothing but the utmost desire to help you succeed as a resident, and they are incredibly supportive.

About Charley Ann
Charley Ann was born and raised in Batesville, Mississippi. Her current areas of interest include infectious diseases and critical care. Charley Ann's ideal day outside of work would be spent surrounded by her friends and family in the Grove in Oxford and cheering on the University of Mississippi football team.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I completed a rotation at Baptist DeSoto during my fourth year of pharmacy school. After witnessing the impressive impact that pharmacy makes within the hospital and being welcomed by the family-oriented pharmacy staff, I knew Baptist DeSoto would be the perfect place to grow as a pharmacist and as a person.
What is your day like?
A typical day as a pharmacy resident depends on the rotation, but all consist of working up patients, completing various pharmacy-specific consults, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. In addition to these activities, we may also be staffing in the central pharmacy or participating in rounds. Knowing that pharmacist are such an integral part of the patient care model at Baptist DeSoto is incredibly rewarding.
What is your favorite thing about Southaven?
The food.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
As early as high school, I knew that pharmacy was a potential career path for me. After having exposure to the various types of pharmacy practice, I was convinced that this was the field I wanted to enter into. For the past decade, I have maintained the desire to become a pharmacist and worked towards that. It's incredibly fulfilling knowing that it's a goal I have achieved.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
The variety of pharmacy experiences offered here at Baptist DeSoto is remarkable. The pharmacy model that is implemented within our hospital offers so many opportunities to develop and refine necessary skills of a pharmacist, regardless of where your career may take you. Having a close-knit, friendly department filled with staff members that want to see you succeed and help you along the way makes even the difficult parts of residency so much more enjoyable.
