Baptist HealthScore Screening Center
Because early detection is important in treating most conditions and diseases, Baptist Medical Group Outpatient Care Center offers screenings that can help identify vascular disease that can lead to stroke, heart disease—including abdominal aortic aneurysms—peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis in its HealthScore Screening Center.
Skilled technicians can perform these tests in minutes, and radiologists can interpret the results within days. Your results can help you and your physician decide how you can take control of your health and reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis.
These tests are painless and nonsurgical, so no needles are involved, but you do need a physician referral. Screening for vascular disease is an attempt to detect vascular disease early—before symptoms appear. If you already have been diagnosed with carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm or peripheral arterial disease, screening is not appropriate for you. Also, your insurance plan may not pay for these screenings, so please check with your provider beforehand.
Ideal candidates for these screenings include anyone 40 and older with these risk factors: smoking, diabetes, hypertension or family history of heart disease or stroke.
