Baptist Golden Triangle Nationally Recognized with Straight ‘As’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score

11/11/2021

COLUMBUS, Miss. –For the 20th consecutive time, the Leapfrog Group awarded Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle an “A” Hospital Safety Grade, making the hospital the only hospital in Mississippi and one of only 23 hospitals nationwide to earn an “A” every grading cycle since 2012.

This national distinction recognizes Baptist Golden Triangle’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and other supplemental data sources to grade hospitals across the country. Together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

“We are so proud of our straight ‘A’ score and of our hard-working team members who earned it,” said Paul Cade, administrator and CEO of Baptist Golden Triangle. “We are pleased to be able to show the community that we provide our patients with such a high level of quality care at our hospital even during a pandemic.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Baptist Golden Triangle has made a clear and consistent effort to protect patients,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Establishing and maintaining systems that optimize patient safety is especially critical during times of crisis.”
