Baptist Golden Triangle earns ‘A’ rating for care from national safety organization for 10th year in a row

05/10/2022

COLUMBUS, Miss. –The Leapfrog Group awards Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle an “A” Safety Grade for its achievements in protecting patients from harm in the hospital for spring 2022, making the hospital one of only 22 to earn an “A” every grading cycle since 2012.

“I am proud of the patient safety culture and the emphasis that our employees and physicians place on safety when taking care of our patients at Baptist Golden Triangle. This award is a credit to them that we are the safest hospital in Mississippi and one the safest in the nation,” said Baptist Golden Triangle Administrator and CEO Paul Cade. “To be recognized for the culture of safety practiced at our hospital is rewarding. To earn that distinction for ten consecutive years, especially through more than two years of a pandemic, tells you everything you need to know about the dedication and the quality of our employees and our medical staff,” Cade added.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures based on errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of Baptist Golden Triangle for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
