Baptist Medical Group physician receives appointment to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine staff

MEMPHIS, Tenn., - Baptist Medical Group breast surgeon Alyssa D. Throckmorton, M.D., recently was appointed as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology & Endocrine Surgery of the Section of Surgical Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Throckmorton completed her medical degree at the University of Texas in Houston, her general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University, a breast surgery research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a breast surgery clinical fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. She returned to Tennessee in 2009 to join Baptist Medical Group-Memphis Breast Care and maintains hospital affiliations with the East Memphis Surgery Center and Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, where the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is developing an academic affiliation. She is also very active in the Tenn. chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
